Medicine & Public Health
As a physician, Dr. Yen knows a fundamental truth: your medical decisions should be made between you and your doctor. Period. Politicians looking for clicks on social media have no business in your exam room.
During his time in the State Senate, Dr. Yen was often the only voice standing up against dangerous medical misinformation. He fought to ensure our communities were protected from preventable diseases, taking hard votes to keep our kids safe and writing the law that banned minors from using commercial tanning beds to prevent skin cancer.
In the U.S. Senate, Dr. Yen will fight to:
- Protect Women's Healthcare: Fully support a woman's right to make her own reproductive healthcare decisions. As a proud member of the board of directors for a pro-OBGYN advocacy group in Oklahoma City, Dr. Yen is firmly pro-choice and is fighting to ensure women have unrestricted access to comprehensive, evidence-based care.
- Defend Medical Autonomy: Keep politicians out of your healthcare, ensuring medical freedom and protecting the sacred doctor-patient relationship across all fields of medicine.
- Support Rural Hospitals: Expand funding for struggling rural hospitals so Oklahomans don't have to drive hours for life-saving emergency care.
- Take on Big Insurance: Fight corporate insurance monopolies to drastically lower out-of-pocket healthcare costs for working families, while strengthening our state and national health infrastructure to ensure high-quality care remains accessible to everyone.
- Strengthen Health Infrastructure: Fortify our national stockpile and health response plans so our country is never caught off guard in a crisis again.
